| https://www.le.ac.uk/lahs/downloads/WykesvolumeLXIX-6sm.pdf - John Coltman's "father-in-law, Samuel Cartwright, a yeoman from Duffield near Derby6, had been a close friend of Henry Coape, the village squire and one of the leading Presbyterians in Derbyshire." |
| Husband's birth year. | DOLMAN, Kathleen Mary Inga (I5115)
| I believe she is also known as Hannah Maria Richardson, born 1854, father William, mother's maiden name Clark. She married John Todd in 1873. Penny Roberts, DNA match to Sally is daughter of Maria Todd, Hannah Maria's daughter. | RICHARDSON, Anne M (I4343)
| I don't know anything about her other than her name. Her child Eliza was illegitimate. I'm assuming that she was the sister of Joseph Hollis, who adopted Eliza and was named as her uncle in the 1851 census. Could the surname Hollis/Hollas be also spelt as Hollows or Hallows? | HALLOWS, Sarah (I5180)
| I don't seem to be able to link Bill England (#1120) with the Mathesons. Diane Thomson states that Bill's mother was bornDolina Finlayson (#3072); her first child was born in 1891; she would therefore have been born about 1871 or perhapslater. Who was her father? Perhaps John Finlayson (#118), whose wife was Dollena Adair (#119), or perhaps of JohnFinlayson's son Donald (#121) - I note that he seems to have had four unnamed children. But in both cases the dates aredifficult. John Finlayson (#118) I assume was born c. 1854, and yet Dolina Finlayson was born about 1871 or earlier.Donald Finlayson (#121) was born say 1884, and yet Dolina Finlayson was born about 1871 or later. The best fit forBill's mother is therefore as a daughter of John Finalayson (#118) and Dollena Adair (#119), a daugher I've not got in mydata. If we so choose, then, pace my note in a family tree, Catherine Finlayson [#77] is not the sister of BillEngland's grandfather but of his great grandfather. His great grandmother was therefore Chistina Matheson (#65), sisterto our Angus Matheon (#61). | ENGLAND, William John (I1120)
| I found a timeline of Margaret Julia, that asserts that William Tomlins was charged with "wife desertion" 6 Jul 1889. Source is given as "paper". See notes on William Tomlins. | Family: TOMLINS, William / MATHEWS, Margaret Julia (F1130)

| I got this name from my notes of 761025, which I made from what Agnes told me. This Mary I note as 'single'. | DUNNING, Mary Elizabeth (I2919)

| I had a ring at Ti Point from Merlene 'Alice', an old woman with a quavering voice, who said that she wanted to get intouch with 'Kathy Alice', could I help her? (I found out later that it was John Matheson who had put her on to me!Merlene said her phone number was 4225882, and that there were two 'Mrs Turners' there. I had a look at my TMG data, but found that my Meiklejohn data was in fact rather in a mess. I seem to have got my data from a book, but the bookhad not been properly referenced. I also began to suspect that for some of my entries I had several entries for the oneperson. I finally rang Iris for help, and she suggested that I ring Beryl - Beryl Rathe. I found, to my surprise, that Colleen had died - and that Iris had spoken to me of her a month ago. Sjhe died about 14 September 2001. I'd sentBeryl a sympahy card. Beryl, in turn, suggested that I get in touch with a Sally Meiklejohn (4220656). SallyMeiklejohn suggested that I get in touch with Graham Alison (520 3467), who was Kathy Alison's son. (Thus, the 'KathyAlice' was in fact Kathy Alison. This suggests that Merlene had been misremembering the names she was giving me, andeven misrembering her own name.) And I was told that the Alisons had been the owners of the Devonport ferries. And I dorecall that one of the ferries was named the Alison. Graham Alison was out, and so I passed on to Merlene herself hisphone number. She seemed pleased with that. Merlene is 74, she says, my own age! | DUNNING, Merle (I303)

| I lived in Malaya from 1960-1962 and surveyed jungle areas to be made into rubber and oil palm plantations for landless Malays to own and work. The schemes were very successful and now turn over $300million Malay per year. Eleven other NZ surveyors were in the scheme and in 2007 we were invited back to look at the development and were presented with medals from the Malay government. | WALKLEY, Ian Francis (I04003)

None seemed all that interested in genealogy. However, Diane introduced me to Don Stewart, whose wife, I think, had prepared a genealogy of Bill's ancestors. DonStewart, 17 Coronation Rd, Glenfield, Ph 09 4809 811. | ENGLAND, William John (I1120)
| I take the second christian name from Gertie's note, rather than from Kerry Moore's. | BIRDSALL, John Elvin (I405)
| I think | GUTHRIE, Daryl (I3421)
| I think that Jeanette Dolman was their daughter. She was born 24 Jan 1948 and married Gordon Wilde. She died 12 Oct 2011 in Palmerston North. I can't confirm or deny this theory as she was married before she was listed on the Electoral Rolls and BDM records are not recent enough for her birth. However she lived in the same area as Alice and William Dolman. Her mother is given as "Alice Dolman" in an Ancestry family tree. | Family: DOLMAN, William Eric / DOLMAN, Alice Emily (F1630)

I'm not sure where the original date came from - probably copied from someone's Ancestry tree. | Family: KAVANAGH, Thomas / LAUDER, Bridget (F1116)
| I visited. Both Alma and Doug seemed well. I gathered some family dates from Doug, and some stories of John andChristina's early days in Auckland. | MCCLINTOCK, Douglas Thomas (I334)

| I was born at Waitakere Hospital on the 30th of December 1974. I grew up in Massey, West Auckland and our family lived in the house my parents built in Royal Road for all my childhood. I attended Royal Road Primary School, then Massey High School. After leaving high school I attended Auckland University from 1993 until 1996. I graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with First Class Honours in Computer Science. After leaving university I worked for Unitec Institute of Technology, first designing faculty and intranet web sites, then in 1998 I was employed as a Web Programmer on English Online, a Ministry of Education contract with Unitec that offered professional development for English primary and secondary teachers in New Zealand. I stayed at Unitec until 2006, working on English Online as well as other related educational web sites. In October 2006 I finished full time work to have children. I still do related part time work from home. I met my husband Brendan Hooper (through contacts in Scouting and Guiding) when we were both in high school. In 2000 we travelled overseas together on a 4 month tour of Great Britain, Europe and Canada. In 2001 we bought our first house in Royal Road (just down the road from where I grew up) and we were married on the 2nd of February 2002 at the Arataki Visitors? Centre. Our first child Kayleigh Janice was born on the 6th of November 2006 at Waitakere Hospital. Samantha Jessie was born on the 21st of June 2008 at Waitakere Hospital. | SMITH, Raewyn Michele (I26)

| I was born in Auckland in 1945 and lived in Kumeu until I was 10. During my time living in Kumeu my parents owned a dairy farm and then a market garden and my older sister Sally and I used to join in the activities on the farm - making hay, planting vegetables, helping harvest various crops and going with Dad to the markets in the city on a weekly basis. Sally and I attended Huapai School until Dad bought a property in Orewa in 1955. My younger sister Gail was born before we left Kumeu. We owned 2 shetland ponies at the time and I can still remember standing on the trailer with Dad as we transported them to their new home in Orewa. I started at Orewa District High School as a foundation student in Std 4 in 1956 and left at the end of form 6 in 1962. I mostly enjoyed my years at school and I always loved playing sport becoming involved in athletics, net ball, softball gymnastics and tennis. I was appointed Head Prefect in my last year at school. I went to North Shore Training College in Mt Roskill in 1963 and 1964. I boarded at Taranaki House in the grounds of Avondale College while I was at college. I played net ball, softball, basketball and gymnastics for the college and spent most winter weekends on the net ball courts. We had a great social life at Taranaki House and I still keep in touch with the teachers who I met there. I graduated in 1964 and spent my first year of teaching at Te Atatu North School. I rented a flat in Grey Lynn with a friend and played first grade netball for the Extons club at Windmill Road in Auckland. I met my future husband Pat during this year. My next year of teaching was at Pukekohe East School where I boarded with a family whose children attended the 3 teacher school. I commuted to Auckland each weekend to play netball and catch up with Pat who was always my most ardent netball supporter. Pat and I were married on January 14th 1967 in Mt Albert in the biggest rainstorm that Auckland had seen for a long time. After returning from our honeymoon in Fiji we traveled to the South Island to teach at Tapawera District High School, Pat teaching in the high school and me teaching in the primary school. We spent 3 fantastic years there and met 2 couples who we eventually traveled overland with to England leaving from Auckland in January 1970. We traveled from Singapore to London taking 4 months and having many unforgettable adventures on the way through countries such as Thailand, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Europe. Mum Dad and Sally had traveled by ship to London at the same time so we were able stay with them for a while. After teaching in London and traveling throughout Britain and Europe for one year we were appointed to teaching jobs in Luanda, Angola (Portuguese West Africa) where we spent the next 4 years. We returned to Europe on holiday after one year and bought a VW Kombi Camper van which we owned for the next 15 years. Pat was appointed as Principal of the school - Escola Inglesa De Luanda in 1973 where we stayed until 1975.During the last year there we experienced a revolution with Pat eventually leaving in a convoy to the South African border under constant threat of being shot at. I became pregnant in Angola and flew to New Zealand where our first child Nigel was born in August 1975. He was born with Spina Bifida and had many operations during the next few years. We got a flat in Golf Road, Green Bay while we built our house in the bush at 91 Scenic Drive, Titirangi in 1977. That was the year that our second child Moringa was born. We have lived there ever since and I have taught at the local Kaurilands Primary School since 1980, still teaching there at the present time. When Nigel was at Green Bay High School one of his operations severely reduced his mobility confining him to a wheelchair, nevertheless he battled on like a "warrior"and excelled in sports and academic studies graduating in achieving a Bachelor degree at Massey University. Nigel flats in Glendene & currently works at the Laura Fergusson Trust in Green Lane. Moringa joined the local Girl Guides and got involved in tap dancing and netball. She loved her sports and did very well. Today she is still active in squash and "touch rugby" She actively supported her husband Mana Ashford in his success in the NZ Sevens Rugby Team, and the Waitemata and Auckland Sevens Team. He still plays in the local Waitemata 15's Rugby Club competition in Auckland. Moringa attained a senior position in administration at Hastie Company a few years ago and is still there today. They have two children: Sharn and Tahlia and they live in at Red Hill Road, Massey. From 1985 to 1995 I was asked to participate in a team of Mathematics teachers from New Zealand in promoting and developing an innovative NZ ?Beginning School Mathematics Project? in the State of Michigan, USA. Over that period of time, we exchanged visits with a team of Michigan teachers. When Pat and I went over to the USA recently for a holiday, we visited and stayed with members of the American exchange team in Detroit. We also stayed with teachers and parents of children whom we taught when teaching at Escola Inglesa de Luanda in Angola from 1971-1975. | WARD, Jocelyn Sandra (I1165)
