2207 | Obituary New Zealand Tablet, Volume XXVI, Issue 17, 2 September 1898, Page 15 Miss N. Casey With deep sympathy for her parents and relatives we record the death of Miss Nellie Casey, of Leith Avenue, Dunedin, at the early age of twelve years. Her piety and gentle and winning ways marked her ont as one who would be at home with the angels. Her death has left a great void in her family and among the many friends that she made during her short sojourn in this life. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place from St. Joseph's Cathedral on Monday, Father Murphy conducting the burial services in the cathedral and at the grave. - R.I.P. | CASEY, Nellie (I3511)

In 1899 he married Minnie Hainsworth who also came to New Zealand from England. They were married in Wanganui. He later removed to Levin where he conducted an accountancy business for many years, being the first Secretary of the Levin Fire Board, a position he held until he retired and relinquished his office to J.L. Arcus & Sons, Accountants of Wellington. He was affectionately known as "Fire Plug Walkley" Another position he held for many years was that of Secretary of the Horowhenua Patriotic Fund Board up until the time it was incorporated into the National Patriotic Fund Board during the Second World War. 2240 | On Sarah Matilda Cain's birth certificate her age is given as 29 which gives a birth year of about 1859. However in 1868 when she was charged with vagrancy she was a girl "not exceeding 15 years", which would give a birth year of sometime after 1853. If she was born in 1859 she would have only been 9 years old at that stage, which seems too young to be mistaken for nearly 15. BDM and death registry entry gives her age on death as 63, which gives a birth year of 1853. | SHIELDS, Sarah Anne (I3644)
