690 Beverley Joan Walkley was born on 4th May 1942 in Marton, Rangitikei, to Ron and Kitty (nee Catherine Winstanley). Beverley was Ron and Kitty?s third child and only daughter. Beverley grew up in Marton, and then moved with her family to live in Wanganui. She attended Castlecliff School and Wanganui Technical College before training and working as a hairdresser in both Wanganui and Rotorua. She also worked in a Rotorua pharmacy for four years prior to starting a family.
On 23rd February 1963 Beverley married Brian Alexander Thomson in Wanganui. Brian?s trade back ground was as panel beater and he spent eleven years in the motor vehicle industry. In 1965 he changed his occupation and joined the Fletcher Timber Company in a human resources role.
On 27th January 1969 Beverley and Brian welcomed their only child Shane Alexander Thomson into their family. As Shane grew up his two great loves in life were soccer and cricket. Shane eventually chose cricket as his favored sport, and went to play in Worcester England, before being selected for the Northern Districts Side and later on being selected, and playing for, the New Zealand Cricket Team in the early 1990?s.
Beverley and Brian shifted many times while with Fletchers managing sawmills for them in Wiltsdown, Rotorua and Hokitika before moving into various management roles in Christchurch, Hamilton and then finally back to Rotorua. Eleven shifts in twenty three years.
This was a great way to see and experience New Zealand but at the time, very hard on a young family.
When they retired in 2004 they moved to Taupo where they currently hope to spend the rest of their life.
Beverley and Brian?s pride and joy in their lives now days is their grandson and only grandchild, Jack Alexander Thomson, who was welcomed into their family on 20th November 2006.

691 Bill & Dorothy Ward, Pat & Jocelyn Heremaia visited "aunty Maud" ...

Uncle George also gave Bill and Dot the address of his aunty Maud [nee Scott], who was the sister of his mother, Lillian Scott. Maud lived in Horncastle. Jocelyn and I went with Bill and Dot to visit his aunty Maud and her husband. She spoke of her Golden Wedding Anniversary which was going to be held at Bill Scott's widows home which was in the neighbour hood. [Bill & Dot had a photo of Bill Scott, Bill's uncle, the brother to his mother.]

692 Bill and Mary Keyworth lived at 3 Skirkbeck Drive, Saxilby, Lincolnshire. When Bill & Dot travelled over to Great Britain in 1970, they went north to Lincolnshire to track down his relations. They decided to visit Bill & Mary Keyworth first in Saxilby.

Mary was at home but had to go out. Bill was working at the local fertilizer works so Mary directed Bill & Dot [from NZ] to visit Bill's uncle George Ward. Uncle George lived on Lincoln Cathedral hill in Lincoln. Initially Uncle George and his wife's reception was rather cool and reserved but later they became more relaxed and warm as Bill explained fully as to who he was and where they had come from.
Uncle George asked Bill & Dot to stay for tea. Later Uncle George took them to visit one of his sons also called George. Like his father, he also had marred twice and one of his sons was a panelbeater in London.

We took many photos of them and their home. Bill died not long after we returned to New Zealand.Whilst there, we also met Bill's sister Mary Keyworth who lived nearby. She married Bill Horton.

693 Bill England's grandfather. All of this is rather speculative. FINLAYSON, ___ (I1033)

694 Bill Ward said that Kate Gray was a sister of Lillian Scott. She isn't listed in any of the census records for Edward and Elizabeth Scott and her maiden name is Richardson, which is Lillian Scott's mother's maiden name.

In the 1881 census she is listed as a granddaughter of William and Elizabeth Richardson (Lillian Scott's grandparents), aged 1.

Originally I though it most likely she was Lillian Scott's half-sister (daughter of Elizabeth Richardson), raised by her grandparents and given their surname. She was born 1 year before Elizabeth Richardson married Edward Scott.

However new information came to light in 2022, when Thelma Thomas emailed me to say she had been in contact with someone from the Gray family who had notes on Kate's family, recorded in 1966. Her mother is in fact Rebecca Richardson, Elizabeth's sister. Her father however is Edward Scott, Lillian's father. So she was both a half sister and also cousin to Lillian and her sisters.
