- Brian was born on the 27 Feb 1937 at Lewisham Private Hospital, Lewisham, Greater London, United Kingdom.
His parents were Alfred Joseph Wheeler born in March 1913 and Jessie Huxley who was born on 12 January 1912. Brian's parents were married on the 15 January 1936.
Jessie died in April 1966 and Alfred died in 2002.
Brian's grandfather was also called Alfred Wheeler and was born in 1884. He married Elizabeth Sealey who was born in the same year 1884. Alfred died in 1978 and Elizabeth died in 1980.
Brian's grandfather fought in the 1st World War 1914-18 and was in the Battle of the Somme.
Brian's father was an electrician and during World War 2, 1939-45 he was "man powered" from London, Liverpool and Birkenhead where they built Mosquito Aircraft which he "wired up".
Brian's mother's father William Huxley worked for Rolls Royce as an engineer.
There were 5 sons born to Brian's parents, "Alf" and Jessie: Brian, Gordon, Peter, Christopher and Martyn.
In 1954, the family immigrated to New Zealand. They resided first at Dargaville then later lived in Opotiki and Ohope.
Brian left Dargaville for Wellington to finish his apprenticeship as an electrician. He attained his certification and became electrician on three Union Steam Ship Company ships: "Waimea", "Navua" and the "Kaitoa; travelling between NZ and Australia.
After coming ashore, Brian worked for the NZ Government Departments of Railways and Post etc.
In 1963, Brian met Lois Marion Walkley and they married on April 4th 1964.
