• Notes

  John was a shearing contractor as well as a sheep and cattle farmer. He won three World Shearing Records. He was also in the occupational force in Japan in 1947 entitling him to a Government "Ballot Farm" in Taupo, thereby with others becoming an original settler in the area where he farmed for 40 years.
