    • Henry was born in 1831 at Horsey, Gloucestershire.
      Henry Walkley was the son of Charles Walkley, a weaver of Horsley
      On 2nd June 1855 Henry Walkley and Hannah Jefferies, were married at Stroud, Gloucestershire by the Rev. Thomas Shakespeare. Hannah Jefferies was also born at Horsley in 1833. She was a dressmaker and a daughter of John & Susan Jefferies.
      At the time of the 1861 England Census, Henry and Hannah were living at 21 Smyts Road, St Mary's, Newington, Lambeth in Suffolk. Henry was 29 and Hannah was 27. They had their first three children then. Annie was 5, William 2 and Arthur 8 months old
      Later Henry and Hannah lived at 11 Chryssell Road, North Brixton, where most of their family were born.
      At the time of the 1881 England Census, Henry was registered an "Employer" as a manufacturer of India Rubber goods. He employed 7 men and 2 woman. 12 of their children were living at home then with Harriet Wilson, the house keeper: Annie - 25, William - 21, Arthur - 20, Francis - 19, Constance - 16, Herbert - 14, Frederick -12, Sydney - 11, Henry - 10, Florence - 8, Eleanor - 6, Maria - 5.
      Hannah bore her husband 15 children born between the years 1856 and 1876, a period of 20 years There were 8 boys and 7 girls. Two girls and one boy died under the age of 2 years.
      Ada born 18 Nov 1857 and died 20 Jun 1859
      Alice born 6 Jun 1863 and 15 May 1864
      Stanley born 6 Nov 1865 and 15 Jul 1866
      Of the 12 children who survived infancy 5 of the 7 boys emigrated to NEW ZEALAND. These were:
      1. Francis Charles John Walkley [known as "Frank"]
      2. Herbert Walkley
      3. Frederick Percy Walkley [known as "Fred"]
      4. Sidney Stanley Walkley [known as "Sid"]
      5. Henry Walkley [known as "Harry"]
      The two older boys William Henry and Arthur remained in England and continued in the family business of H. Walkley and Co., London, manufacturers of rubber and wet weather clothing also described as "Waterproofers".
      Of the girls, all remained in England except for Constance Eleanor who emigrated to South Africa upon her marriage when she went to live in Durban, where she died of old age.
      Hannah died on the 21 St April, 1886, aged 52 years 7 months at North Brixton and was interred at Norwood Cemetery by Rev. Thomas Shakespeare who had married them.
      At the time of the 1901 Census the family lived at Berkley House, Selhurst, in Croydon, with their Father Henry. The family remaining at home were Annie- 44, Florence - 28, and Eleanor - 26.
      Henry later married his house-keeper Sarah Ann, about whom very little is known and Ada Baker was employed at home as a home helper. Sarah was referred to by the family simply as Mrs W. Henry.
      Sarah Ann died on the 1st July 1907.
      Henry died on the 3rd November 1918.

      16 December 1889. Hannah Walkley wife of Henry Walkley of Berkley House, Bagnall Park, Selhurst, Surrey, died 21.4.1886. Granted to Henry Walkley of Berkley House, Selhurst, Waterproofer the sum of $48.3.6. [English pounds]

      25 July 1907. Sarah Ann Walkley of Berkley House, Selhurst Surrey, wife of Henry Walkley, died 1.7.1907 granted to Henry Walkley Waterproof manufacturer, Estate $283.13.9. [English pounds] (This was Henry Walkley's second wife)

      30 December 1918 Henry Walkley of Berkley House, Bagnall Park, Selhurst Surrey, died 3.11.1918. Granted to William Henry Walkley and Arthur Walkley, India Rubber Manufacturers the sum of $5008.19.0. [English pounds]

      15 May 1925 Annie Walkley of Deerhurst, Amhurst Road, Bexhill on Sea, Sussex, Spinster died 24.3.1925, granted to William Henry Walkley and Arthur Walkley, Rubber manufacturers the sum of $858.4.9. [English pounds]

      15 January 1926 Jessie Annie Walkley of Feilding, Wellington, New Zealand, wife of Herbert Walkley died 19.8.1916. Proved at Wellington, N.Z. granted to Albert Wilson, Headmaster and Alexander Johnston Sinclair, Accountant the sum of $882.16.10 [English pounds] in England. Sealed at London.

      5 November 1926 Arthur Bingham Walkley of Little Orchard, Brightlingsea, Essex, died 7.10.1926, granted to Frances Walkley, Widow, and Beatrix Woods, wife of Edward William Woods the sum of $6896.14.0. [English pounds]
