    • Stanley was born in Marton, 22. 11.1909
      He grew up there and joined NZ Railways as a clerical/accounting worker. When war broke out he joined the army and served in the Pacific. He resigned as a Warrant Officer First Class. He married Winifred Milton in 1944 and located to Christchurch. Winifred had her own business ?Milton?s Drapery ? and ran this with her mother until her mother died. Winifred continued the business for many years being an identity in the Christchurch suburb until she retired.
      Anne Milton was born in 1947.She attended primary school and secondary school in Christchurch .The family travelled to Norfolk Island and many holidays to the North Island to meet the Walkley family.
      She graduated as a State School Dental Nurse and was appointed to schools in Christchurch. She married Michael John McMillan in 1968.Michael graduated with a B.Sc from Canterbury University, and was appointed to a teaching position in Christchurch.
      Kate Emily McMillan was born in 1975, James Michael born 1978.
      The family moved to Dunedin following Michael?s appointment to the Secondary School Inspectorate in 1983.
      Kate attended Columba College, James attended John McGlashan College.
      Michael was appointed as Rector of Otago Boys High in 1986 and the family moved to live on the school site in a large family home designated for the Rector and his family. Anne had taken up a full time position in Recruitment and subsequently gained HR qualifications in this field.
      Stanley died in 1984 and two years later Winifred moved to Dunedin to be with her family and was very much a part of life with them all until her death.
