  • Notes
    • Ronald's second son, Bryan was born in Marton in1940.
The family moved to 29 Waitote Street, Wanganui and he attended Castlecliff school before leaving to be an apprentice golf professional under Jim Tunnell at the Castlecliff and Belmont Golf clubs.
After 2 years he worked at Woolworth for a year before starting an apprenticeship as carpenter with his father working mainly for farmers in the Kariori. He then joined Emmett Brothers where he was quickly promoted to foreman.
While building Wanganui High School he met his future wife Marjorie Antoinette (Toni) Swan, marrying in 1962 and then moving into a new house at 11 Omori Place, Castlecliff, Wanganui.
Their son Bruce was born in 1962, followed by a daughter Susan in 1963.
They moved to Australia in 1968 for 6 months, returning to Glenfield, Auckland where they had the Manuka Road Dairy for 2 years. They then purchased a home and 3 flats at 136 St Johns Road Meadowbank and Bryan returned to his trade as builder and Toni, his wife, to Secondary School teaching.
In 1972 they moved to 37 Victoria Avenue, where they were living when Bruce and Susan started their secondary school years.
Over the next decade Bryan built 3 new homes, 7 Norman Lesser Drive, 40 and 42 Cornwall Park Avenue before they retired to 484 Oxley Drive, Runaway Bay, Gold Coast, Australia in 1988 as at this time Bruce was living in London and Susan had married and was living in Darwin.
When Bruce and his new wife Debbie returned to New Zealand in 1992, they waited till their first grandson Tor was born in Darwin in 1993 before also returning to Auckland, building another new house, their present home at 9 St. Elmo Rise, Howick and operating Lady Ascot Rest Home at 24 Ascot Avenue, Remuera until 2003.
After a second short retirement in 2005 Bryan and Toni developed a new motel, Alpine Lake Motor Lodge, 141 Heuheu Street, Taupo, managing it themselves for a year before handing over to daughter Susan and husband Ron on their return from Darwin.
Bryan is a keen golfer, starting as a junior at Castlecliff Golf club and later a senior champion at Howick and an intermediate champion at his present club Formosa.
Toni and Bryan love to travel and have had many overseas holidays and cruises.
