Notes - Henry was the youngest, and the last of the brothers to arrive in New Zealand. He sailed from England on the Ionic and arrived in the Dominion in 1902.
In 1903 he returned to England with his brother Francis and his wife and two children, Constance and Laurence. Here he entered Guy's Hospital and underwent major surgery, returning to New Zealand in 1905.
After a brief period in Marton with his brother, Sidney he settled in Levin and traded as a draper and clothier having learned his trade in some of the large London warehouses. He continued in this business from 1907 until he retired in 1925.
He was married in Wellington to Elizabeth Stewart Ballingall in 1910.
During his retirement he interested himself in a number of community activities. As a member of the first Lake Domain Board he was closely associated with the early development of Lake Horowhenua. He had wide Masonic interests over a quarter of a century and was a Past Master of his Lodge. As an original member of the Fire Police Corps he rendered valuable service in that sphere. The activity most dear to his heart was the care and welfare of the children in the Otaki Health Camp. He enlarged his vegetable garden to almost half an acre for the express purpose of supplying vegetables for these children who came from the cities to take advantage of country life in a healthy and happy environment.
His retirement was spent at his home "Mylor," in Levin where he died in 1940, at the age of 69 years.
