- Returned from Auckland to Omaha. Joyce Wyatt's sources are Ruth Denton, who got it from Agnes Matheson.
- In his diary he gives 18 November 1889 as the 5th anniversary of returning to Omaha. [Raewyn]
- Jane Clarke was enrolled in Little Omaha School at the start of 1884. He may have got mixed up about the year he returned to the district in his diary and actually returned in November 1883. Mary Anne Clarke died in August 1883. Or it's possible he sent some of the children back to live with relatives while he stayed on in Auckland.

Eddy & Ivy Wyatt's residence in Leigh |
- According to Joyce Wyatt, the old three-gabled house was abandoned in 1920, some of it being used to build Eddy Wyatt's house. Charles Clarke then boarded with Eddy and Ivy Wyatt. Later he went to his daughter Jane's place at Whangateau. At some time after his death, Jane offered the diaries to her daughter Mildred, but she was moving out of the district and didn't want them. It was then that Minnie received them..
- Diary entry 10 Jul 1920:
"Jim Wyatt came up with the cart and took my furniture down to their place, I shall have a nice room in the firont of their house with a fire place." I made several journeys up to the old house to carry things down & I got my room nicely in order. Eddie, Ivy & Jim went to a hockey match at the Claim & did not get back til after dark."
[Raewyn]
- The house was apparently still standing at least until April 1924 when CS Clarke reports pulling down the "old home" and plans for it to be removed "on to the flat opposite Wyatt's entrance gate."

Jim & Jane's place |
- Probably with his daughter Jane, who married James Dunning.
- He moved to "Dacres' Claim" (Whangateau) in 1923.
From the Rodney and Otamatea Times 16 May 1923:
"The settlers of Leigh and surrounding districts turned out at the Leigh Hall on Tuesday evening the 1st May to do honor to Mr C.S. Clarke, J.P., one of the earliest settlers in the district. Mr Clarke has decided to reside at Dacres' Claim, and he has been connected with all objects promoted for the the welfare of Leigh. This opportunity of entertaining him and showing their appreciate of his worth could not be overlooked by the settlers."
