It wasn't clear which of these is our ancestor, and which is the "other" Edward Scott.
However the son of James and Sarah married Emily Bailey in 1878 (James is given as father on the marriage certificate). Birthplace is consistently given as Toynton St Peter for this Edward Scott. Our Edward Scott has birth places on the census as "Toynton by Spilsby", "Halton on Spilsby" and "Toynton".
The son of James and Sarah was born in 1855 in Toynton St Peter (parents are listed). I ordered a birth certificate for the Edward Scott born in 1854. Birth date is 13 September 1854. The birthplace is "Halton" (in the district of Spilsby), parents are John Scott and Rebecca Scott (formery Cramm). I will go on the assumption that this is indeed our ancestor.
Edward (groom)'s father John was the brother of James Scott, the other Edward's father.
