Notes |
- I was born at Waitakere Hospital on the 30th of December 1974.
I grew up in Massey, West Auckland and our family lived in the house my parents built in Royal Road for all my childhood. I attended Royal Road Primary School, then Massey High School.
After leaving high school I attended Auckland University from 1993 until 1996. I graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with First Class Honours in Computer Science. After leaving university I worked for Unitec Institute of Technology, first designing faculty and intranet web sites, then in 1998 I was employed as a Web Programmer on English Online, a Ministry of Education contract with Unitec that offered professional development for English primary and secondary teachers in New Zealand. I stayed at Unitec until 2006, working on English Online as well as other related educational web sites.
In October 2006 I finished full time work to have children. I still do related part time work from home.
I met my husband Brendan Hooper (through contacts in Scouting and Guiding) when we were both in high school.
In 2000 we travelled overseas together on a 4 month tour of Great Britain, Europe and Canada.
In 2001 we bought our first house in Royal Road (just down the road from where I grew up) and we were married on the 2nd of February 2002 at the Arataki Visitors? Centre.
Our first child Kayleigh Janice was born on the 6th of November 2006 at Waitakere Hospital. Samantha Jessie was born on the 21st of June 2008 at Waitakere Hospital.
