WEDDING BELLS
CASEY? KAVANAGH On Tuesday, November 10, a very pretty wedding took place at St. Joseph's Cathedral, Dunedin When Mr Joseph Casey, fifth son of Mr. James Casey, of Dunedin, was joined in the bonds of Matrimony to Miss Frances Kavanagh, fifth daughter, of Mr. B. Kavanagh, of Stewart Island. A Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Murphy. Mr. A. W. Lilly presided at the organ, and as the bridal party left the Cathedral played Mendelssohn's wedding march. The bride, who was given away by Mr. W. R. Monteath, looked exceedingly well in a pretty travelling costume of cinnamon-brown flaked silk voile and white picture hat. She also wore a valuable gold brooch, set with diamonds and rubies, the gift of. the bridegroom. The bridesmaid was Miss L. Kavanagh (sister of the bride), who was attired in a royal blue faced cloth costume and hat to match, and wore a dainty gold chain with a cross pendant, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. Thomas Casey, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. After the ceremony the bridal, party drove to the residence of Mr. James Casey, where the wedding breakfast was held. The Rev. Father Murphy proposed the health of the young couple, and testified to the high esteem in which both were held. The happy couple left in the afternoon for the South. The bride's gift to the bridegroom) was a pair of gold sleeve links, whilst both bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many handsome and useful presents, among them being a large statue of the Sacred Heart from the nuns of the North-East Valley.
