  • Notes
    • Papers Past shows he was convicted numerous (70-80) times for various offenses mostly involving alcohol. He spent several spells at the Salvation Army rehabilitation centre on Rotoroa Island, the last for two years from May 1917. He was found drowned in the harbour only a short time after his release, most probably accidentally falling into the water while drunk. I have digital copies of three sworn depositions from the coroner's report. He never married.
