  • Notes
    • For date of birth, see My 2. She died aged 90 - Addendum to the Gael Fares Forth. Xerox from Waipu estimates birth at c.1801. Date of death: from the Addenda to the Gael Fares Forth, p. 7, 19 Jan 1891. Xerox from Waipu gives date of death 13 Jan 1891, at Waipu.
    • In The Gail Fares Forth appendix p 304, she is listed as the widow who accompanied her sons on the Spray.

In MAMT, p. 158, she is named as widowed on migration to NZ. She is the sister of Christian Cameron, #1036.
In House of Memories xx, she is given as 1801-1897, from Balmacara, Scotland.

MAMT ? Maureen ...No, it's not Maureen Molloy, Those who speak to the heart. [7]
    • In "Those Who Speak to the Heart" in Appendix A she is listed as the widow of Hugh Matheson, daughter of William Cameron and Ann Finlayson and sister of Christina Cameron (widow of John Finnlayson).

Perhaps that's what the confusing note above is referring to.

      (Raewyn)
    • There's a photo of a group of women, at a 'spinning frolic', at Murdoch McGregor's residence. Included in the list of women is 'Mrs Eohann Matheson'. The photo is reproduced in The Gael Fares Forth p 112. Eohann is a gaelic form of Ewen. The photo shows Mrs Matheson as an indistinct figure in the back row on the left at her spinning wheel. [8]
    • John McLean's "Sailor's and Settlers" says she was the sister of fellow passenger Christina Finlayson.
